Fourth Session is full of Adventure! | August 4, 2022

During the earlier part of the week, campers built friendships while working together. At the farm, some groups prepared and kneaded the bread, others mixed fresh butter, while another used freshly picked basil to make pesto sauce. The entire BDC community enjoyed the treat as an afternoon snack! Other projects that campers helped out with are repainting the rainbow benches and replacing gravel for our spigots. Even our youngest Farm & Wilderness campers are learning about our motto: Work is love made visible!
In addition to Adventure Day and working together, campers have been loving the waterfront, playing games in the bowl, building fires, and creating works of art in the Art Barn. We can't wait for week 2!
Topsy Turvy Tuesday for Session 4 is Nebula's Birthday Party! Nebula is the mama goat and she is turning 4 this year. We are encouraging the campers to create birthday cards for her and get ready for the celebration on Tuesday. Imaginative costumes are welcome!
Also on next week's horizon is Overnights! Be sure to check out page 6 of the Barn Day Camp packing list in our Family
Resource Guide for the overnight packing list. It's going to be an amazing adventure for all!

There will be no shuttle running to Woodstock Thursday afternoon, because our campers will be headed to their overnight! If your shuttle rider does not spend the night with their group, there is also no shuttle to camp Friday morning.
The Session Closing Day is Friday (8/12), with pickup time at noon. It will not be a full day of camp. Families are more than welcome to arrive at noon when we'll sing our final songs of the session at the Rainbow Circle. There IS a Woodstock shuttle Friday, leaving the Barn Day Camp at noon to arrive around 12:30 at Woodstock Elementary.
We hope your children are enjoying their experience at the Barn Day Camp and we're looking forward to another great week!
Peace,
Emily
Happy Trails, Third Session! | August 2, 2022
Greetings, Session 3 families!

We had such a great time with your children during last session! The farm continued to be a highlight for everyone. The young goats are stealing our hearts but we also had a visit with five baby
bunnies from Tamarack Farm! Some campers had a chance to sit with the bunnies and notice what greens they enjoyed eating. Speaking of greens, campers helped harvest and clean lettuce as well as shell black beans. They also rolled wax candles from local beeswax and made ice cream using an old-fashioned ice cream maker. So many delicious and fun farm activities!
Additionally, we had many adventures rangingfrom the stormy yet safe adventure day to exploring the magical woods during Topsy Turvy Tuesday. Campers built fairy houses, designed dragon wings, and drew maps of fantastical places as well.
We are so grateful that you shared your children with us this summer and hope to see you again next year!
Peace,
Emily
Even The Baby Goats Try New Things! | July 8, 2022
Dear Delightful Session Two Families,
What a fun week we've had! The baby goats continue to be a highlight at the Barn. Some campers brought them down to the waterfront to see if they would like to swim (they didn't) and on another day campers enjoyed watching the goats try out their new trampoline (they loved it). Other farm highlights were baking bread and making butter for the camp to enjoy. With all the hot weather, campers enjoyed the waterfront nearly
every day: swimming, taking tippy tests and building boats. On Thursday, everyone went out on adventures on canoes, on the Adventure Course, searching for fairies, and more swimming!

We are looking forward to a fun week next week with Topsy Turvy Tuesday! Campers are encouraged to embrace their wacky sides to the fullest, from topsy costumes to turvy activities! We'll go over that more at Monday closing circle, and feel free to ask us questions!
Also on next week's horizon is Overnights! Be sure to check out page 6 of the Barn Day Camp packing list in our Family Resource Guide for the overnight packing list. It's going to be an amazing adventure for all!

It's hard to believe we're already halfway through the session, and so exciting to know we still have a week of adventure to go!

Thank You For A Wonderful First Session! | July 5, 2022

What an incredible first session of the BDC! Despite the heavy rains on Opening Day, we enjoyed warm, sunny weather the rest of the week. Every day of this session every camper had the chance to cool off and play in the lake. Many campers swam on their adventure day while others searched for salamanders, talked like pirates, or practiced map and compass skills. In barns and gardens, we were excited to introduce the campers to the baby goats, Butternut and Nova, and their mother Nebula this week. Campers enjoyed walking them through the forest and learning to milk Nebula. Another farm highlight involved campers helping to mix and bake a strawberry rhubarb crisp to share on our last day of camp!
We enjoyed singing, playing, swimming, and learning with your campers this week! We look forward to seeing you another session or next year.
Peace,
Emily Mathon
See Y'all Soon! | June 24, 2022

Good evening BDC families!
Wednesday afternoon the Barn Day Camp staff
walked out of camp with their backpacks, sleeping bags, group gear, and campfire meal to bond as a group and to prepare them for leading your children on adventures this summer. This week of Staff Training has been filled with meaningful discussions, joyful work, and raucous singing. I am so thrilled to introduce you and the campers to these fantastic individuals and our inspiring space.
We are so excited and honored to spend some time with your camper this summer! If you have any questions or need anything from me, please let me know!
