Summer 2024 Reunions
Revisiting the best of 2024 together with outdoor activities and a picnic lunch.
Why are we doing this?
For mutual joy and support going into back-to-school and back-to-work after the summer. At Saltash Mountain Camp they talk about “The Long Trip” at the end of camp. What they mean is the that long stretch of 10 months without camp! These reunions are a way to get together and rekindle and blow on that flame from the summer of 2024 so it can keep us warm during the rest of the year – especially this Fall when we are thrown back into the rush of school and work and everything else. It’s specifically for the folks who were at camp so that we can bond more quickly over that shared experience and have a better chance of forging meaningful connections with people who live near us and recently shared the Farm and Wilderness experience in 2024. After the September and October gatherings, we’ll expand to the broader F&W community with the G.O.A.T hikes in November.
Who is it for?
It’s for any families and staff who were part of the Summer of 2024 at Farm and Wilderness. More specifically, if:
- Your child was at camp this summer.
- You worked or volunteered this summer for any amount of time.
- You were a camper this summer.
This includes:
- Any of the overnight camps: Firefly Song, Timberlake, Tamarack Farm, Saltash Mountain
- Barn Day Camp
- Family Camp
Tell me more, walk me through this
Date: Saturday September 14th and Saturday October 19th.
Where: See next header below
11:00am: Arrival / Silent Meeting
Expect to see an F&W staff or helper near where you park/arrive. They will give you a nametag and indidcate where we will sit in a circle nearby for Silent Meeting. Proceed to sit inside the indicated circle for a Silent Meeting. Staff and/or camper volunteers will be giving the “Quiet Coyote” handsignal so everyone enters the circle in silence. We’ll be in Silent Meeting for about 20 minutes. Silent Meeting is part of Farm and Wilderness's Quaker-based practices. Quakers believe that Spirit may reveal itself to anyone, so everyone arrives at the meeting as an equal which informs camper-led activities and much more about F&W camps. If so moved, a person will speak into the silence. There is no response. Sometimes no one breaks the silence until the facilitator breaks the silence with a "good morning" After that, everyone greets each other with a hug, handshake or "high five" - whatever they are comfortable with.
11:25am: Percolations/Anything Is Possible.
Silent Meeting will be followed by a “good morning” greeting and “percolations” (Any thoughts that didn’t break the silence but are meaningful/fun to share) and a bit of “Anything Is Possible” thoughts to hype us up.
11:40 am: Activities / Warmers
“Morning Activites” for 20 minutes will include the options of icebreakers or a bit of pick-up soccer / frisbee, possibly a quick craft.
12:00 pm: “3 Bell”
There will be a signal that it's time to wrap up and transition to lunch.
12:15 pm: Closing Circle
This is a moment for appreciations and to charge us up with positive energy and support for our Fall beginning of the “Long Trip” back to camp.
12:30 pm: Lunch
Bring your own lunch and optional blanket.
1:30 pm: Clean up – Leave No Trace
See you at the next one!
