FS Trips Building Campaign
Be part of the next 50 years of trips at Firefly Song
Nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains, Firefly Song provides 9-14 year old girls and non-binary youth with transformative outdoor experiences.
Our trips program is at the heart of building confidence, community, and connection with nature.
- Expanded facility supporting our core outcomes: interdependence, agency, and identity
- New 800 sq ft space for gear organization and trips programming and preparation
- Improved van parking and turnaround space
- Water and electricity for equipment care and hygiene

- February and March: With your help, finish fundraising. F&W Facilities team will do site clearing and cut a timber frame.
- April: Foundation work begins.
- May – Early Summer: As part of training, seasonal Work Projects staff will work alongside Year-Round Facilities staff, to erect the base and frame.
- During camp season: our staff and campers, led by the Firefly Song Work Projects staff, will complete the project!

Such a large-scale project will support the skills acquisition F&W is known for. Also, the high visibility this project will have, and its connection to two of our core activity areas – Work Projects and Trips – will help campers consider their own relationship with these aspects of our program, further supporting their sense of agency and identity development.

We ask campers about their experiences at camp
Trips are a source of pride
"...the time I was hiking."
"This is SO FUN! and, about my canoe trip, we paddled 14 miles in all, 6 miles in the rain, and 5 of them being up/against the wind."
"When I got to the top of Mount Sunapee and saw the awesome view."
"One thing I am proud of is canoeing for four days."
"Trips, hiking 7 miles in 4 hours. Also, just kinda being here and doing this."
"One moment I am proud of is when I led everybody on my hiking trip through the rain (I was in front)."
